Honest answers to the questions we hear most.
What determines the price to ship my car?+
Several factors set your quote. The biggest is distance: longer routes cost more in total but usually less per mile. Vehicle size and weight matter too, since larger trucks, SUVs, and modified vehicles take up more space on the trailer. Whether the car runs (operable vs. inoperable), how accessible your pickup and delivery locations are, and the time of year or how quickly you need it all affect the rate. Because MEYP LLC is the carrier hauling your vehicle on our own open trailer, the price you are quoted is what you pay us directly — there is no separate broker fee added on top.
How long will transport take?+
Transit time depends mostly on the distance between pickup and delivery. As a general guide, most vehicles move within roughly 2 to 9 days once they are loaded, with cross-country routes taking longer than regional moves. When we confirm your order we give you a realistic pickup and delivery window rather than an exact guaranteed minute, because weather, road conditions, and traffic can shift a schedule by a day. We stay in touch throughout so you always know where things stand. If your timeline is tight, tell us up front and we'll be honest about whether we can meet it.
How is my vehicle protected during transport?+
Your vehicle's protection is a priority on every haul. MEYP LLC carries insurance, and the single most important step is the inspection: at pickup, you and the driver walk around the car together and note any existing damage on the Bill of Lading (BOL). At delivery, inspect the car again before signing — if you find new damage, write it on the BOL, take clear photos, and don't sign off as clean, then contact us right away. The signed BOL plus your photos document the vehicle's condition on both ends. We're glad to walk you through our coverage and the whole process before you book.
Open vs. enclosed carriers — which do you use?+
MEYP LLC ships exclusively on open carriers, the standard, most widely used trailers in the industry. Your vehicle is securely strapped down and travels on the same type of open trailer that dealerships and manufacturers use to move millions of cars every year. Open transport is the most cost-effective option and typically allows faster scheduling. The trade-off is that the vehicle is exposed to weather and road dust during the trip, just as it would be if you drove it yourself. Enclosed transport (a fully covered trailer) is mainly used for high-value, classic, or exotic vehicles. We don't offer enclosed service, so if your vehicle specifically requires it, we'll be straightforward and let you know.
Do you require a deposit, and when do I pay?+
No payment is required before your vehicle is picked up, and we do not ask for a deposit to hold a booking. You pay once your car is actually loaded onto our trailer, or at delivery, depending on what we arrange together. This protects you, since you're not paying for a service before it begins. We'll go over accepted payment methods (such as cash, certified check, or other options we agree on) when we confirm your order, so the amount and timing are clear up front with no surprises.
How should I prepare my vehicle for pickup?+
A little prep makes pickup smooth. Wash the car so existing scratches and dings are easy to see and document on the inspection report. Remove or retract toll tags and parking passes. Leave only about a quarter tank of fuel — enough to load and unload but keeps weight down. Check for and address any fluid leaks, since a leaking vehicle can drip onto cars below it on the trailer. Disable any aftermarket alarm, fold in the mirrors, and note your tire pressure and battery condition. Finally, take your own dated photos from all angles, and remove all personal belongings and valuables.
What happens if no one is home at delivery?+
Someone 18 or older needs to be present at delivery to inspect the vehicle with the driver, sign the Bill of Lading, and receive the keys. If you can't personally be there, you can authorize a trusted friend or family member to handle the inspection and sign on your behalf — just let us know in advance who that will be. We always call ahead before arrival so you have time to be ready. If a location is genuinely unreachable for our truck, we'll coordinate a nearby accessible meeting point with you so delivery isn't delayed.
How far in advance should I book?+
Booking about 1 to 3 weeks ahead is ideal and gives us the best chance to match your preferred pickup window. That said, we can often accommodate shorter timelines depending on our route and schedule, so it's always worth calling even if your move is soon. The earlier you reach out, the more flexibility we have to plan around your dates. If your situation is last-minute, tell us and we'll be upfront about what's realistic rather than overpromising.
Can you transport my car if it doesn't run?+
In many cases, yes. We can transport an inoperable vehicle as long as it still rolls, steers, and brakes, because loading it requires a winch and safe maneuvering onto the trailer. It's very important to tell us the vehicle is inoperable when you request your quote, since it affects how we load it and usually involves an additional fee for the extra equipment and time. If the car can't roll, steer, or brake at all, please describe its exact condition so we can confirm whether we're able to handle it before booking.
Can I leave personal items in the vehicle?+
We ask that you keep the car as empty as possible. Personal belongings are not covered by cargo insurance, which protects the vehicle itself but not its contents, so anything left inside is at your own risk. Loose items can also shift during transit and damage your interior. Carriers are weight-regulated, too, and overloaded vehicles can create DOT compliance and safety concerns. If you must leave a small amount of items, keep them light (a common industry guideline is under about 100 pounds), in the trunk, and out of sight — and never leave valuables, documents, or electronics in the car.
Can I stay in touch and track my car during transport?+
Yes. Because MEYP LLC is a small owner-operator carrier, you deal directly with us the entire way — not a call center passing along messages. You can call or text (786) 696-6577 or email meypllc@gmail.com any time for an update on your vehicle's status and estimated arrival. We'll also reach out at key points, including a heads-up before delivery so you have time to be ready. Clear, direct communication is one of the real advantages of working with the carrier that is actually hauling your car.
Do you serve my area, and do you work with dealerships?+
Yes. MEYP LLC provides nationwide open-carrier auto transport from our home base in Florida, serving both individual customers and dealerships across all 50 states. Whether you're relocating, buying or selling a vehicle online, or a dealership that needs inventory moved, we handle pickup and delivery directly. As the carrier rather than a broker, you (and dealerships especially) get one accountable point of contact for scheduling and delivery. Reach out with your route and vehicle details and we'll let you know how we can help.
